Start of a new album

It's been ages since I blogged. The whole semester at university was very busy & although I finished up just over a week ago I have already leapt into preparations for my major project. I've also re-started my design blog to keep track of my journey over the coming year. The major project will be a challenge but it is one that I'm excited about and looking forward to.

Before starting on my project though I started a new scrapbook album & took part in some National Scrapbooking Day challenges. Below is the title page for my album which is all about my life right now in May 2013. Something I love about scrapbooking is that it makes me cherish the little, everyday things more than before.

Hogmanay

With the funeral being held on the 31st it felt strange celebrting the new year, Mum especially was finding it difficult to deal with. We always see in the new year with our neighbours and they had invited us round so we accepted. I was glad Mum decided we would go as I didn't think it would be good for her to sit an mull the day over and that some company would help. It did. We had a good catch up and although we didn't feel in the party mood we all enjoyed it and even had a laugh playing Pass the Bomb, which I won :)

Sombre End to 2012

The 31st was a difficult day for all the family as we had the funeral for my Auntie who passed away on the 23rd. The service was lovely though and we took comfort knowing that she is at peace now as her battle with breast cancer was a long and painful one which was heartbreaking to see. In the afternoon we visited both of my grandmothers before heading home.

The Holiday

The Holiday is currently my favourite festive movie and we all watched it together on the evening of the 30th. Normally I wouldn't go back to my parents' until Hogmanay, however, as we would be in Dundee on the 31st it made sense for me to stay the night before so that we could make an early start in the morning. It was nice to have some family time together, that's definitely the best thing about the holidays.

'Tis The Season...

...for friends, family & mysteries! It wouldn't take a master detective to work out I like crime & mystery dramas from this photo. I adore them, especially in winter. I was lucky to be given the Morse collection from my parents at Christmas then really scored a good deal in the HMV sale before they announced they were in administation.

Their TV boxsets were significantly reduced and if you bought two the second was half price. An offer like that was too good to refuse so I got Columbo, Frost, Sherlock Holmes and Cadfael all for less than the original price of Columbo alone! Definitley going to be a super sleuth by the time I've finished watching them. They'll help fill winter evenings as I don't have a TV and will bring back happy memories of my Grandfathers who introduced me to them. My paternal Grandfather & I would always watch Jonathan Creek and Morse together and in the summer holidays spent in Dundee with my maternal grandparents, Granda & I would watch Columbo together in the afternoons.

Winter Wonderland

December 28th was actually my first trip to Edinburgh's Winter Market this year. Mostly it was just food stalls and the attractions as a lot of the gift stalls packed up on christmas Eve. Still, it was nice to walk around and I got some great photos of the castle & Mound at night.

We always enjoy going to the theatre and the pantos are a family tradition. In recent years we have seen lots of good ones that cater to adults, I especially loved The Corstorphine Road Nativity by Tim Firth which was hillarious. This year Dad surprised us with tickets for Mother Goose. I liked the cast and the jokes were funny, however the plot was a bit disappointing from an adult perspective. We still had a good night out though.

Nando's Night

I think this page is proof that I will keep hold of absolutely anything (well, almost anything) to include in a scrapbook. My friends & family know me so well that I don't even need to ask anymore, they just hand me things & say "I thought you might like this for your scrapbook." Dad is especially thoughtful, I don't even need to be there for him to gather up little bits for me, got him well trained ;)

The little stickers on the envelope are from the toothpick flags they stick in your chicken. I don't know how Dad manages hot (and that's not even the hottest available!), the plain is spicy enough to me! The envelope contains our receipt from the restaurant too, something else I saved!
